2:15 Thirsk - Speculative Bet (8th June)

A Maiden Auction Stakes over 6f on good to firm going. Thirteen two-year-olds take part. Ann Duffiled [pictured] has an increased string of juveniles this season and a few good measures of ability to test the mettle on the gallops. She is a canny judge and this season she has been very selective with which horses receive stakes race entries. My Amigo held such an entry before winning on debut at 20/1 so it is encouraging Mr Stravinsky has been similarly branded. Such entries are no guarantee of ability or whether a horse will need the debut run but it is logical if a trainer has winning juveniles that a sign of ability could well bring value to bets long term. This bay colt, a son of Zebedee out of an unraced mare, was purchased by the trained at the yearling sales for £28,000. By the nature of this race type, he looks to be one of the better bred horses. With a decent draw, this horse is priced at 12/1 and could well go well on debut and holds each way claims.
