4:15 Newmarket - Speculative Bet (3rd May)

A Maiden Stakes over 5f on good to firm going. Thirteen two year olds including one form horse who went well on debut. City Of Stars should have each way claims but not quite a speculative bet as far as price goes. We may be clutching at straws here because we have our eye on a 50/1 shot which is freely available at 100/1+ on the betting exchanges. Nick Littmoden has a rather unconventional approach to training often racing his juveniles at high-grade contests when they are not really that class. I noted that E Fourteen had been given a Stakes entry which could be a sign of ability. On breeding his filly looks to need further, out of an unraced mare, and not sold as a foal when going through the sales ring. Not the best start. However, the owners, Franconson Partners, have been connected with some good horses over the years including African Dream, Mudawin & Group Therapy. A horse to cross your fingers but at 100/1 it could go better than the market expects.
