The topweight Wild Edric is my 4th top-rated and one of only two known front runners in the race and stall 9 might be ok in the make-up of this race, Laubali comes out 3rd best on both 2019 times and 2018 times so could go well here but will do well to catch POETA BRASILEIRO 28/1 who is my 2nd top-rated and the other front runner so from stall 5 could gain control of the rails and prove hard to catch and maybe worth an each way bet but on 2019 times LUCKY LODGE 16/1 comes out 4lbs higher so with a clear run, which it should hopefully get from stall 2, it could pick the leaders up close home so I will be having 2 each way bets in this race.

There's 5 of the 13 runners having been known to lead before and it could be won from the front here, Astraea has stall 1 but is better over a shorter trip, my 4th top rated is Taverner a possible pacesetter, the one that could be the one to prosper if they go off too fast is Fareeq if it can reproduce its Newcastle time here, INDIAN AFFAIR 20/1 is a front runner and stall 2 could see it gain control of the rails and then prove hard to catch, I've got PEACHEY CARNEHAN 16/1 rated 1lb higher but this front runner is in stall 11 which isn't ideal but the jockey booked to ride has a 2-7 record for this stable and hopefully 2 each way wagers will pay dividends.

At least there's some early paced sorts in this 6 furlong race but there's not a lot to say about a lot of the runners so I will concentrate on my top 3 ratings, A Sure Welcome is my 3rd top rated and its best time was recorded this year so could go well in this race and could be the one to prosper if my front running pair go off too fast and fade, Peachey Carnehan has been in good form and merits the opportunity to take on this higher class of opponents but I'm thinking it just might struggle to actually win the race but that's not to say it won't run well and could make the frame but I'm thinking that MONUMENTAL MAN 16/1 could be very hard to beat if it does get to the front and in the make-up of this race things could go its way and at the price it has to be an each-way punt.

There's 3 known front-runners in the race and 2 of them are in my top 5 ratings so Turanga Leela in stall 8 and 5th top rated and Taverner in tall 12 and 3rd top rated could do best of the front-runners but they may set it up to a finishing type in this race, Zapper Class is 2nd top rated and usually stays on at the finish over this distance but I've got LETMESTOPYOUTHERE 12/1 as my top rated and this hold up type might have this race run to suit its favoured racing tactics, the trainer has a 24% win rate here and the jockey has a 23% win rate for this stable so I'm hoping that's a pointer to them expecting a big run here and luckily the price permits me to go with an each way wager.

A bit surprised to find just 2 front-runners in this 5 furlong dash and my top 2 ratings are front-runners, Union Rose is my 3rd top rated on a 2017 time but hasn't raced here recently so could make the frame, ORIENTAL SPLENDOUR 14/1 is top rated using a 2017 time but this ones been in poor form so far this year and would need to bounce back to win here but never say never when its done it before, my top rated on this years form and joint 2nd top overall is HOLLANDER 8/1 and stall 6 looks ok in the make-up of this race, I will probably go with backing the latter as my main bet and a smaller covering bet on the other selection.

This 5 furlong dash has again 5 known front-runners and again I think it will be won from the front and in this race I will be backing my top 2 who both like to lead and my 2nd top rated is RED STRIPES 12/1 but this ones best time did come at this c/d so it cannot be overlooked while my top rated did a time 7lb faster but it was at Newcastle while its only produced slow times at this c/d in 2 attempts so I will put SIENNA SAYS 10/1as a selection as this 3-year-old could still improve and another 3-year-old in the race, Sparkalex could be a bit of a hidden danger so stakes won't be at full power but I will be having 2 small each-way bets at the prices available.

This is indeed a poor race for me mainly because of the lack of front runners, I've marked 6 of these runners as maybe needing further or a really fast pace to be competitive so the race may not be run to suit them, Passing Star is 3rd best but needs to improve a few spots to win this but should be staying on at the finish and could make the frame but isn't really an each way price, Burauq is weighted to come out 2nd top but it hasn't been in great form lately and the price reflects that fact, so i will have be backing FANTASY JUSTIFIER 40/1 each way at the price, who doesn't want a fast early pace which can find out its lack of stamina but this race might be run just right for it to nave every chance to get back to winning ways.

A field of 13 runners and only 3 known front runners and Invisible Storm from stall 2 could gain control on the rails but would need to improve to win but never say never especially being a 3 year old, Jorvik Prince is 4th top and possibly another pacesetter from stall 5, Kamra is 3rd top rated and usually likes to track the leaders, OUR MAN IN HAVANA 20/1 is another 3 year old and the 3rd possible pacesetter and in the make-up of this race it might not be too much of a hindrance seeing its in stall 12 and at the price has to be worth a small each way bet, my top rated is *A SURE WELCOME 12/1 in stall 3 who likes to track the early pace and could get a good position on the rails just behind the leaders from which to attack late on and another i will be backing each way.

This race has plenty of early dash in the entrants and the 3 bottom weights, Red Stripes, Zipedeedodah(not been in good form lately) and Quantum Dot(who may need this run to gain fitness), would all have a chance here on their best form if getting to the front but if they do go off too fast then the horse most likely to benefit is Newstead Abbey who is the form horse just looking at recent runs, if RED STRIPES 14/1 had been drawn better, stall 9 isn't ideal, it would promote it to a definite selection but I'm going to have to also back NEWSTEAD ABBEY 11/2 to cover both angles.

Not a great apprentices race and there's no natural front runner in the field which always makes it a lot harder to analyse, I've got 2 that would find it too far if there's a fast pace and another 2 that would find it too short if its a slow run race, which leaves me with my top 3, 3rd spot is Grecian Divine but that's using a time from a different surface so not sure if it will like this surface, Berlios is 2nd top and could be the one to profit if THORNTOUN LADY 10/1 doesn't run to form but this ones last 3 runs have been in a class higher races so maybe this drop down will revitalise it but my stakes wont be at full strength.

The top 3 in the handicap look as though they may struggle for various reasons but Zamjar has got a positive jockey booking, but maybe to monitor the horse for the future, ive got the bottom 3 in the handicap divided by just 1lb, Berryessa’s 5/1 trainer has a good 23% win rate at this course and a top class jockey booked so another positive pointer, Invincible Ridge 9/1 was very unlucky last time out when going well but got no room to operate from, RED STRIPES 10/1 has a decent chance to lead here from stall 1 and then kick off the bend at hold all challengers at bay but I'm not going each way as there's only 2 places up for grabs but this does look its best chance for a while to lead and hopefully it can hold on for the win.

This 12 runner race is quite hard to analyse with a fair amount of what if’s, Indian Affair would normally be right in contention but stall 11 isn't ideal for a front runner and it will have to use some extra energy to get across to the rails if it intends to lead but the other 2 known front runners are drawn in the inside 2 stalls so Indian Affair could get close to the lead, Island Cloud has the prime draw and the trainer has a 23% win record here but the jockey is 0-3 so not sure what to expect and it looks as though further would suit it better so will it have the pace to get control of the rails with Awesome Allan the other front runner drawn beside it, Thorntoun Lady is well weighted at the bottom of the handicap and ran on well last time to finish 3rd over 7 furlongs and always looks as though further should suit it better but could at least make the frame, I'm hoping that IT MUST BE FAITH 11/1 from stall 3 can get to the rails just behind the leaders and then stay on the stronger at the finish the price permits me to go with an each way investment.

A Maiden Stakes over 5f 261y on standard going.
Nine two-year-olds take part in what looks a hot race. The three leading fancies, as far as the betting goes, all hold fair claims but there is often value lurking around and we may have a chance of one juvenile going well at big odds.
Jeremy Gask isn't the most fashionable of trainers and he has a small string of two-year-olds but this Stockbridge handler knows his horses very well and if up to winning are placed to make their mark. Dashing Poet is a daughter of Poet's Voice out of a dual-winning mare who was trained by the late Michael Jarvis. This bay filly cost 45,000G at the yearling sales but withdrawn from the breeze-up sales when presented in April. Whether she was purchased then I am not sure [likely] and runs in the silks of The Dashing Poets.
I am confident connections fancy this filly has some ability and that was shown to some extent by heading to Sandown on debut. That isn't the easiest of courses to make your racecourse bow, especially against a few proven form horses. Priced at 33/1, bookmakers didn't rate her chance but I feel connections actually held some hope of hitting the frame. A slow start didn't help but this fiar-looking filly wasn't disgraced. The form of that race is solid. This step up to 6f is guaranteed to suit and from stall five this March foal should be able to hold her position.
It will take a big performance to wrestle a place against this opposition but you can never be scared to take on favourites with a big priced chance. At odds of 22/1 [much bigger, I suspect, on the exchanges] this juvenile could hold each-way claims.
Just a quick update. The Wizard of Oz (the man behind the curtain) has his eye on a spec bet today. Dominic Ffrench-Davis doesn't have a great number of two-year-olds in his stable but a versatile trainer who can deliver a winner. Hi Milady is quite well bred and a 30,000gns purchase at the yearling sales by the handler. This daughter of Sir Prancealot has size and scope to improve with racing and that looked to be the case when finishing with spirit at Wolverhampton on debut. That didn't look the strongest of contests but this step up to 6f will help and experience should see a professional performance. At odds of 14/1 this bay filly has each-way claims.
A little while since our last post - but the best bets are worth the wait. This 0-100 rated handicap over 5f 216y has a big field of thirteen runners with a nice purse. Our main man has his eye on Ballista, trained by Tom Dascombe and ridden by Richard Kingscote. A course and distance winner, this seven-year-old gelding has dropped in the weights from a lofty 111 and his last two placed efforts and dropping three pound it could be a prime time to show a touch of class. At odds of 10/1 this bay gelding looks a fair each-way bet.
